  • Overview

    Thank you for your interest in joining the SphinxConnect 2026 Crew! We look forward to welcoming project-based team members to ensure the convening is a success. You are encouraged to read through the below information before continuing.

    Deadline to Apply

    The application will remain open until all positions are filled. However, for priority consideration, you are encouraged to apply by October 1st, 2025.

    Communication Requirement 

    Please note that we require a response rate of within one business day. If you are unable to adhere to this requirement leading up to SphinxConnect, this position may not be suitable for you. 

    Lodging

    The Sphinx Organization will provide Crew Members with single accommodations at the conference hotel. Please note that incidentals (room service, etc.) are not covered. However, Crew Members will be able to utilize the conference wifi for free.

    Meals

    All meals are provided, either boxed, catered, or with per diem allowances.

    Honorarium

    A modest honorarium is offered for each position. The precise amounts are listed in the position descriptions and are based on the responsibilities of the role.

    Travel Stipend

    If flying to Detroit, Sphinx offers round-trip, economy-class airfare to and from Detroit booked through Navan's self-service platform. Uber vouchers will also be provided to get to and from the convening hotel. If checking luggage, Sphinx will provide funds for 1 checked bag.

    If driving, Sphinx offers hotel parking and mileage reimbursement (65.5 cents per mile up to 150 miles after the first 50 miles each way).

    Crew Orientation

    All crew members are required to attend an orientation session on Monday, January 5th, 2026 from 7:00 - 8:30 PM ET. 

    Schedule

    Crew Members maintain a very busy schedule during the conference week. Please note that certain positions require early arrival in Detroit.

  • SphinxConnect 2026 Position Descriptions

    NOTE: All crew members, regardless of role, are required to support registration on Thursday, January 22nd, 2026.
  • LEAD PRODUCTION MANAGER

    Honorarium: $2,200.00

    Role Description: The Lead Production Manager will oversee the main stage and supervise the 2 Production Managers assigned to the other two ballrooms. This includes overseeing soundchecks for both plenary events.

    Additionally, they will work collaboratively with their Production Managers to develop and lead a training plan for all Production Liaisons.

    Pre-Convening Work: The Lead Production Manager will participate in the following meetings:

    • A one-on-one orientation with the Conference Manager to discuss the specific duties of the position.
    • A Crew Leader orientation with all Crew Leads.
    • A full crew orientation on Monday, January 5th, 2026, from 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm ET.
    • Any meetings related to Opening and Closing plenaries.

    Additionally, the Lead Production Manager will be copied on any correspondence related to their role.

    Arrival in Detroit: Tuesday, January 20th, by 4:00 pm ET

    Departure: Sunday, January 25th, after 12:00 pm ET

  • PRODUCTION MANAGER

    Honorarium: $1,400.00

    Role Description: Production Managers oversee the technical components of each ballroom in partnership with hotel production staff and ensure each session starts/ends on-time. Each Production Manager is also responsible for supervising 1-2 production liaisons.

    Pre-Convening Work: Production Managers will participate in the following meetings:

    • A one-on-one orientation with the Conference Manager to discuss the specific duties of the position.
    • A Crew Leader orientation with all Crew Leads.
    • A full crew orientation on Monday, January 5th, 2026, from 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm ET.

    Additionally, Production Managers will be copied on any correspondence related to their positions.

    Arrival in Detroit: Tuesday, January 20th, by 4:00 pm ET

    Departure: Sunday, January 25th, after 12:00 pm ET

  • PRODUCTION LIAISON

    Honorarium: $750.00

    Role Description: Production Liaisons support the Production Managers in executing the technical components of each session. This includes placing mics on speakers, setting up/striking the stage, and other tasks as requested by the Production Managers.

    Pre-Convening Work: Production Liaisons will participate in a full crew orientation on Monday, January 5th, 2026, from 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm ET.

    Arrival in Detroit: Wednesday, January 21st, by 4:00 pm ET

    Departure: Sunday, January 25th, after 12:00 pm ET

  • ENGAGEMENT MANAGER

    Honorarium: $1,200.00

    Role Description: The Engagement Manager will facilitate the Q&A portion of each session on the main stage. Additionally, they will supervise 2-3 Engagement Liaisons responsible for the Q&A portion of each session in the other ballrooms. They are also responsible for designing and leading a training session for the Engagement Liaisons.

    Pre-Convening Work: The Engagement Manager will participate in the following meetings:

    • A one-on-one orientation with the Conference Manager to discuss the specific duties of the position.
    • A training on how to use the virtual platform.
    • A Crew Leader orientation with all Crew Leads.
    • A full crew orientation on Monday, January 5th, 2026, from 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm ET.

    Additionally, the Engagement Manager will be copied on any correspondence related to their role.

    Arrival in Detroit: Wednesday, January 21st, by 4:00 pm ET

    Departure: Sunday, January 25th, after 12:00 pm ET

  • ENGAGEMENT LIAISON

    Honorarium: $750.00

    Role Description: Engagement liaisons will facilitate the Q&A portion of each session, including selecting questions from the virtual platform. During each session, they are also expected to write questions to help get the Q&A started, if no attendees are ready to ask questions. Additionally, they will help with room setup as able and needed.

    Pre-Convening Work: Engagement Liaisons will participate in a full crew orientation on Monday, January 5th, 2026, from 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm ET.

    Arrival in Detroit: Wednesday, January 21st, by 4:00 pm ET

    Departure: Sunday, January 25th, after 12:00 pm ET

  • FRONT-OF-HOUSE MANAGER

    Honorarium: $1,400.00

    Role Description: The Front-of-House Manager is responsible for all set and strike of all signage in public spaces and ensuring those spaces are welcoming, clean and organized, and safe. Additionally, they oversee 3-4 liaisons responsible for all Front-of-House tasks in each ballroom.

    Pre-Convening Work: The Front-of-House Manager will participate in the following meetings:

    • A one-on-one orientation with the Conference Manager to discuss the specific duties of the position.
    • A Crew Leader orientation with all Crew Leads.
    • A full crew orientation on Monday, January 5th, 2026, from 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm ET.

    Additionally, the Front-of-House Manager will be copied on any correspondence related to their role.

    Arrival in Detroit: Tuesday, January 20th, by 4:00 pm ET

    Departure: Sunday, January 25th, after 12:00 pm ET

  • FRONT-OF-HOUSE LIAISON

    Honorarium: $750.00

    Role Description: Front-of-House (FOH) Liaisons will be the point of contact for SphinxConnect attendees. They will facilitate registration, oversee FOH operations for the ballrooms, etc. This position would require very little pre-conference prep, including but not limited to inclusion on key group emails and knowledge of the conference schedule.

    Pre-Convening Work: Front-of-House Liaisons will participate in a full crew orientation on Monday, January 5th, 2026, from 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm ET.

    Arrival in Detroit: Wednesday, January 21st, by 4:00 pm ET

    Departure: Sunday, January 25th, after 12:00 pm ET

  • EXPO HALL MANAGER

    Honorarium: $1,400.00

    Role Description: The Expo Hall Manager is the primary contact for all exhibitors during and before the convening, helping finalize registration information, guide setup, and support exhibitors throughout the convening. The Expo Hall Manager also supports Front-of-House needs as they are available.

    Pre-Convening Work: The Expo Hall Manager will participate in the following meetings:

    • A one-on-one orientation with the Conference Manager to discuss the specific duties of the position.
    • A Crew Leader orientation with all Crew Leads.
    • A full crew orientation on Monday, January 5th, 2026, from 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm ET.

    Additional Details: The Expo Hall Manager will be copied on any correspondence related to their role and will be responsible for monitoring the Expo Hall email and Google phone number leading up to the event.

    Arrival in Detroit: Tuesday, January 20th, by 4:00 pm ET

    Departure: Sunday, January 25th, after 12:00 pm ET

  • REGISTRATION MANAGER

    Honorarium: $1,400.00

    Role Description: The Registration Manager oversees all aspects of the registration process during the convening, both virtual and in-person, and including the organization and distribution of all conference "swag."

    Pre-Convening Work: The Registration Manager will participate in the following meetings:

    • A one-on-one orientation with the Conference Manager to discuss the specific duties of the position.
    • A training on how to use the virtual platform.
    • A Crew Leader orientation with all Crew Leads.
    • A full crew orientation on Monday, January 5th, 2026, from 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm ET.

    Additional Details: The Registration Manager will be copied on any correspondence related to their role and will be provided access to the SphinxConnect email address.

    Departure: Sunday, January 25th, after 12:00 pm ET

  • REGISTRATION LIAISON

    Honorarium: $750.00

    Role Description: The Registration Liaison supports the Registration Manager in all aspects of the registration process, including the organization and distribution of conference swag. The Registration Liaison will also help oversee the Information Table.

    Pre-Convening Work: Registration Liaison will participate in a full crew orientation on Monday, January 5th, 2026, from 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm ET.

    Additionally, the Registration Liaison will participate in a training session on how to use the virtual platform.

    Arrival in Detroit: Wednesday, January 21st, by 4:00 pm ET

    Departure: Sunday, January 25th, after 12:00 pm ET

  • ARTIST SERVICES & HOSPITALITY MANAGER

    Honorarium: $1,200.00

    Role Description: The Artist Services & Hospitality Manager oversees hospitality for plenary speakers, including greeting them at the hotel, helping them check in to the hotel, and ensuring their needs are met throughout the conference. Additionally, they also provide hospitality support to other elements of the conference as needed, such as ensuring meals are ordered and set up for conference crew and staff.

    Pre-Convening Work: Artist Services Liaison will participate in a full crew orientation on Monday, January 5th, 2026, from 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm ET.

    Additionally, the Artist Services Liaison will be copied on any correspondence related to their position.

    Arrival in Detroit: Wednesday, January 21st, by 12:00 pm ET
